Head Coach - Nick Brown
Building the foundations of Statesville FC has been a privilege and an honor. Our Ownership puts in thousands of man hours discussing, conceptualizing, throwing away and fine tuning detail that will make the decisions we make worthy of the community we represent.
The process of finding a Head Coach to not just represent Statesville FC, but a Head Coach that would inspire a group of players to believe in something bigger than themselves, bring out the very best in characters, leadership and of course performance, was no different.
We could not be prouder to announce that Catawba College Head Coach, NCAA Tournament Winner & Coach of the Year Mr Nick Brown!
Not only has Coach Brown played and graduated from Catawba and has resided in Statesville for many years with his wonderful family, he has just smashed Catawba College's winning record with now over 114 wins at the D2 level. Coach Brown brings angresive, fast paced and entertaining style of play, along with a vast player and coaching network to help build a competitive and resilient team.

Assistant Coach - Boo Tesh
Boo Tesh is entering his second season as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Carolina University. He steps into this role after three successful seasons as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach, during which he contributed to the Bruins' remarkable achievements, including winning the NCCAA South Regional Championship and securing the most victories in program history in the 2022 season. Under his guidance, the Bruins made two appearances in the NCCAA National Tournament.
Before joining the coaching staff at Carolina University, Tesh was an assistant coach at Catawba College, where he played a key role in developing a two-time All-American and guiding the team to an NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance.
Tesh brings a wealth of playing experience, having enjoyed a 14-year playing career that included time at Pfeiffer University and the West Virginia Chaos. His extensive background in both coaching and playing positions him well to continue building a competitive women's soccer program at Carolina University.
Originally from Concord, NC, Tesh attended Pfeiffer University, where he honed his skills both on and off the field.
Assistant Coach - Lee Wattam
Lee Wattam enters his fourth season as an assistant Coach to Chowan Women's Soccer program.
Wattam joined the Chowan Men’s Soccer coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2021 making the transition to Women's soccer in 2022.
In the 2024 season, Wattam helped assitant the program to a 4-9-3 overall record and a 2-7-3 league record. Chowan would make their seventh straight appearance in the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship and finish with one All-Conference recognition. Additionally, seven players were listed on the Conference Carolinas Fall Academic All-Conference Teams.
During the 2023 season, Wattam assisted the program to a 3-7-5 overall record and a 3-4-5 league record with an appearance in the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship. At the conclusion of the season three players received a Conference Carolinas All-Conference recognition.
In his first season with the Men's program, Wattam helped Chowan to their first-ever NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance, Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship, and a program tying 13 wins. Chowan would advance in the NCAA Tournament and appear in the program’s first Sweet 16.
Wattam, a three-year member of the Hawks (2016-18), appeared in 52 caps for the Blue and White recording 16 goals and nine assists during his career. During his time with the Hawks, Wattam earned Conference Carolinas Second Team (2018) and Conference Carolinas Third Team (2017) honors. He was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic team and 2017 NCCSIA All-State Second Team.
During the summer, Wattam played for the Florida Kraze (NPSL) in 2015 and the inaugural squad for Greenville FC in 2017. The Leeds, England native spent his formative years playing for Grimsby Academy.
Wattam graduated from Chowan in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Wellness and Sport. He completed his Level II coaching badge in England.
Assistant Coach - Teddy Bogba
Teddy Bogba was named head coach of Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer on May 22, 2025.
Bogba served as an assistant coach during the Fall 2024 season before being named interim head coach in February. He helped lead the Wildcats to a 6-4-5 record and a third consecutive USCAA National Championship berth.
He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Longview High School in Longview, Texas while he was still a student at LeTourneau University. He ran drills and practice circuits to improve players coordination and skills, and also assisted coaching staff with game play tactics.. He next served as an assistant coach at Youth Dallas Soccer Club from December, 2020 to August, 2021. He relocated to North Carolina in 2022 and took a position as assistant coach at Stanly County FC of the UPSL. In May, 2023, he was named head coach of NC Ballers FC, a Charlotte-based UPSL team. He was responsible for all aspects of the NCBFC program including planning, developing, and running organized practice sessions. He also developed training and exercise programs to meet individual requirements and team play strategies and created scouting reports of opponents. NCBFC won the Spring 2024 Mid-Atlantic Conference championship under Bogba's direction.
"It is an honor to have been appointed as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at JWU-Charlotte, said Bogba upon his appointment. "I recognize JWU as a prestigious university with one of the leading athletic departments in NCAA DIII, and across the nation. My decision to pursue this role stems from a desire to continue providing leadership and positively influencing our athletes and the program. Having had the distinct privilege of serving as the interim head coach this past spring, I developed a strong connection with the team, and we created many memorable experiences together. My core philosophy is: "Do your best when no one is looking. If you do that, then you can be successful in anything that you put your mind to."
Bogba moved to the United States from West Africa in 2009. He matriculated to Ancilla Junior College in 2016 and was part of a conference championship team there. He then furthered his education at Indiana University-East before spending his final two collegiate years at LeTourneau. He made 26 appearances as a defender for the Yellow Jackets, scoring one career goal. Following college, he played in the NPSL, USL2 & UPSL from 2014 to 2022 for six different teams.
JWU Charlotte athletic director Trudi Lacey is happy to have Bogba continue with the team and current group of players. "We are excited to have Coach Bogba join our coaching staff. He is a person of good character and I am confident he will lead our men's soccer program with a strong work ethic and a competitive spirit."
He holds his USSF Grassroots coaching license, as well as the ECNL coaching certification. His USSF D Licensure is pending. He is realizing a lifelong goal of coaching in the collegiate ranks. "I am super excited about joining the JWU's Men's Soccer team staff. It has always been a dream of mine to have the opportunity to impact the lives of college student athletes. There is never a day where I am not grateful for the solid advice and direction given to me during my days as a college athlete. I strive to do the same and even more during my time at JWU. Go Wildcats!
Goalkeeper Coach - Dave Marcincavage
Dave Marcincavage enters his third season as Director of Goalkeeping at Catawba College in the 2025 season.
During the 2024 season, Catawba led the SAC in goals allowed, conceding just four goals in conference play while boasting one of the top defenses in the country. Their 10 clean sheets ranked tops in the league, which included the Catawba Indians' 3-0 win over Flagler in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, while keeping eventual National Player of the Year Andrea Fernandez scoreless on just two shots on goal.
A standout goalkeeper for the Catawba Men's Soccer team, Marcincavage was a First Team All-SAC selection and All-Region performer in the 1991 season, when he recorded 10 shutouts, the most in a single season in Catawba Men's Soccer history. Marcincavage ranks seccond among all goalkeepers in Catawba men's soccer history in minutes played, while his 0.62 career goals-against average ranks best all-time in program history.
Dave's daughter, Emily, played for the Catawba women until her graduation in 2021.
